Hi everyone. This is my first post / forum on Patient so thank you for taking the time to read. I am a 24 year old male from the North East of England. Two weeks ago (Thursday 20th April 2017) whilst at work I got a sudeen painful stomach, it felt like kind of a trapped wind, awful pain. I managed to wait until after work to go and get some windeze and various other tablets. On the Friday night the pain was still quite bad, sharp and shooting, stabbing like. I thought maybe a bought of IBS so went and bought some Buscopan. They didn't do anything. Saturday I went to A&E and they examined me, four files of blood. Nothing. Sent me home to see how I go. Monday and Tuesday I got sent home from work and Tuesday afternoon I went straight from work to A&E, again. Nothing again and sent home. Went to see my GP and they gave me some Mebeverine? Something for IBS and cramps. Didn't help. My family and I paid privately at the Nuffield for a full abdominal scan and that was all clear, we were worried about Gallstones / Gallbladder. Nothing apparently. I've been back to my GP, sent in two stool samples and they're testing for Helicobacter Pylori? I put those stool samples in Tuesday 2nd May 2017 after the bank holiday, today is Thursday 4th May, still not heard. I went for a check up with a surgeon from an earlier problem and discussed this he has arranged now for a Gastroscopy and Colonscopy and another Ultrasound in 19-20 days. The pain does seem to get worse when I eat? But I've also been waking up 2-3am in pain so not just on a full stomach. I want some answers and results ASAP. I am worried, the form said URGENT. Could this be stomach ulcers? Or something simple? Would it be a course of antibiotics and antacids to clear it up? How quickly would I feel better? The pain in my stomach area and the area around my stomach is quite sensitive to touch! Sorry this is so long wanted to give as much detail as possible and anyone elses thoughts, opinions, experiences would be appreciated.

Today (Friday 05/05/2017) I saw that the results of my two stool samples I put in on Tuesday 2nd May 2017. The Helico pylori antibody level said 'Normal, NOT detected' and also the Bacterial culture+sensitivity all came back normal too stating "Normal, FAECES CULTURE, Appearance: Loose stool, Cryptosporidium oocytes not seen on microscopy, E.coli 0157 not isolated, Salmonella, Shigella, and Campylobacter sp not isolated" - Is it possible to have a stomach ulcer without any of this being detected from two stool samples? The pain I get is horrendous. 18 days today till I go for my colonoscopy and endoscopy! Can't come quick enough, I am a little more worried now those came back clear as to what it is. Even more worried they do an endoscopy and colonscopy and IF they come back clear then WHAT IS IT? WHAT IS GOING ON!

Hi Ckc, what were the results of the end and colonoscopy?  did they find anything?

I had my gallbladder removed 3 years and woke up from the op with the most awful stomach pain, which passed when I was able to burp and go to the toilet....however, it's recurred ever since.  had every test going, and there's "nothing wrong with me"....changed my diet to very plain, cut out fat, sugar etc. still suffer.

Just wondered if they found a solution for you, which might also work for me, appreciate hearing back from you.

    Hi,

I had something similar about 5 years ago. I ended up losing a lot of weight because I couldn't eat without the pain. I don't know what the cause was but try only eating steamed and plain food.i mostly ate steamed frozen vegetables because it was the easiest thing for me being a student at the time. That seemed to help me. Also if you drink any teas you might want to try and stay away from them. Hope that helps you.

It flares up for me every now and again and eating plain food basically makes it better, I also had omeprazole for a month when it came back a few years back. But I have no idea if that will help you.

    Good luck!

    Hi

I'm suffering from the exact same symptoms, sharp pains, constant pains in abdomen travelling to lower back, loose stools 5-6times a day. Doctors have ruled out most of the issues as I've had an X-ray, ultrasound and a ct scan which all showed normal! Now having every blood tests possible as the specialist is baffled to what this could be. I'm wondering if I should get them to do the endoscopy/colonoscopy as the pain is just getting worse, or wait for blood tests first which could take weeks.

    Any luck with your diagnosis??

I'm currently rocking side to side in my bedroom with the exact same symptoms. I've had this for 2 weeks now. Have you had any news? I find I'm ok with milk and yoghurt but eggs, beans and tea set me off so far

      Hi Everyone,

I was in emergency twice and then had an ultrasound and they said my liver was three times the normal size.  Went to a specialist.  By then my pain had disappeared and when he ordered a new ultrasound everything was normal.

The pain was real and I lost 12 pounds.

So strange.  I am starting to learn most scarey health things ( not all!) seems to works out not to be as serious as were fear.

Hi everyone, sorry for the late reply. All my tests came back clear, from the various blood tests, Helicobacter Pylori, stool sample, ultrasound x2, colonoscopy, endoscopy. Everything was fine! My symptoms seemed to just vanish on their own within 4-6 weeks? I am fine now and had nothing like that since. Random! When I was quite poorly and in pain and suspecting a stomach ulcer I read about cabbage juice and stomach ulcers. Google it. I drank SO MUCH despite it being not very pleasant. Maybe drinking so much of that before my tests quickly cleared it up before the cameras? Not sure but I am fine now. If you're experiencing the same and suspecting a stomach ulcer try the Cabbage juice thing. Give it a try! I still managed to go to work, travel, do the gym. I just did not want the pain to stop me from living my life. It was a scary, uncomfortable time that I'll never forget! Hang on in there! All the old fashioned remedies I read about from cabbage juice, carrot juice, apple juice etc I tried so see what works for you.

Hi Helen this is how I was as well, it’s truly awful. I went to a private hospital and All my tests have come back clear. I lost weight and the pain was unreal. I took it into my own hands and stopped taking all the pills the docs gave me as it was making it worse and they had lactose in them. Try cutting out dairy, it seemed to help. Mine cleared after a few weeks, I’m thinking it was an IBS flare, maybe try meditation as stress and anxiety can make it worse. Also drink hot water to try to flush out whatever it is in your body. Sorry you’re in pain sad xx

Possible gastric ulcer. We urgently need to switch to diet food. Liquid cereals, stewed steamed vegetables. While banning fruits, sour and spicy dishes. Drink Оmeprozol.
